Abstract

Much of the impetus for studying the secondary flow in curved and twisted tubes comes from the need for quantitative data on the intensification of heat and mass transfer processes in such an environment. This paper presents a review of swirling flow and heat transfer in coiled and twisted pipes. The major thrust of this review in oriented towards coiled tubes. However, pertinent literature references are cited for fluid flow and heat transfer for conduits with twisted inserts and for twisted pipes.
