Abstract
Various features of high strength copper based nanocomposite materials were discussed. The strength of copper based nanocomposites combined with high electrical and thermal conductivity makes them suitable for wear-resistant electrical contacts. The particles are strengthened by dispersions of fine particles of stable oxides such as alumina, titania or yittria. To achieve high mechanical properties in full density powder blends it is suggested to remove oxide layers from the surface of metal particles.
