Abstract
Functionalized α,ω-dienes undergo cyclopolymerization to afford the polymer containing trans-fused five-membered rings. Various dienes including diallyl malonates and diallyl amines are usable for the cyclopolymerization. Copolymerization of dienes with ethylene and α-olefins using Pd complexes produces the copolymer containing five-membered rings. The NMR of poly(l-co-hexene) showed selective insertion mode of the dienes and 1-hexene. The insertion and cyclization of the diene in the copolymerization takes place analogously to those in the homopolymerization.
