Abstract

A qualitative analysis that characterizes a mathematical model formulated to account for experimental infrared thermography observations of spatiotemporal patterns was performed. It was found that the model can predict the main observed qualitative features, namely the breathing spatiotemporal motion, the complex temporal pattern that can be described as mixed-mode oscillations and the period-adding scenario that leads to complexity.
