Abstract
Very uniformly distributed Ni/MgO catalyst islands patterned on a silicon substrate were obtained using the microcontact printing (μCP) technique. The catalyst precursor solution contained the component metal nitrates, citric acid, water and 2-propanol. The size, thickness and composition of the catalyst islands are tunable and controllable. The carbon deposition reaction was conducted on the patterned catalyst islands. This μCP technique is flexible to pattern catalyst islands with and without supports.
