Long-range interactions between solitons in nonlocal nonlinear media

Abstract

We present the first observation of long-range interactions between solitons. Two beams launched in parallel, initially separated by 330μm, self-trap and attract one another, reducing their separation to 190μm over a propagation distance of 50mm.
