Abstract

A method to describe the initial state for collisions of bare ions with atoms is presented. Instead of the usual product of uncorrelated electron-target and electron-projectile wave functions, the analytical continuation to the complex momenta plane of the recently developed φ2 two-center continuum wave. As such, the initial state together is used with a C3 final state for the evaluation of the transition amplitude for ionization of He atoms by completely stripped ions.
