Dr. Youhua Jiang received his B.S. from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology in 2012, and both his M.S. and Ph.D. from the Stevens Institute of Technology in 2014 and 2018, respectively. He then conducted two years’ postdoctoral training at Northwestern University before joining the Mechanical Engineering department of GTIIT as an Associate Professor in October 2020. Dr. Youhua Jiang specializes in Interfacial phenomena, an interdisciplinary area involving various fields, including (1) fluid dynamics, (2) phase-change heat transfer, (3) physical chemistry, and (4) surface engineering. His works (more than 20 papers) were mostly published in leading journals of fundamental Interfacial phenomena, including Physical Review Letters, Langmuir, Soft Matter, Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, Applied Physics Letters, Advanced Materials Interface, Surface Innovations, etc. He also gave presentations at 11 conferences, including two invited seminars, and served as the editorial board member at Surface Innovations (JCR Q2) and reviewers for 20 journals. At GTIIT, The Jiang Group concentrates on Interfacial phenomena, with an emphasis on how surface properties affect phenomena relating to (1) Fluid Dynamics, (2) Phase-Change Heat Transfer, and (3) Physical Chemistry. From the fundamental perspective, this group has three main research directions: (1) Droplet dynamics, (2) Droplet mobility, and (3) Droplet phase-change. Based on the fundamental understanding of droplet behaviors, this group is focused on applications such as water collection, energy harvesting, enhanced phase-change heat transfer, mineral processing, etc. The research thrust in this group can be briefly summarized as Multiscale Droplet-Surface Interactions.
