Abstract

Mass transfer between a slender bubble and a viscous Newtonian liquid in axisymmetric extensional and creeping flow has been studied. The exact steady state solution, at large Peclet numbers, has been obtained using the method presented by Levich for uniform flow around a spherical drop and also by the useful equation derived by Lochiel and Calderbank for axisymmetric bodies of revolution.
