Abstract

A series of Li-B-N-H quaternary hydrides were synthesized by ball milling the mixture of LiNH2-LiH with LiBH4 and tested for hydrogen storage. An optimized composition was critical for low temperature hydrogen absorption and desorption. Over some of the compositions, the onset temperature for hydrogen release was about 50°C, and the TPD peak centers at about 150°C, which was about 100°C lower than that of LiNH2-LiH mixture. No ammonia was released up to 400°C over these systems. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 2006 AIChE National Meeting (San Francisco, CA 11/12-17/2006).
