Abstract

A systematic analysis of dynamic behavior of a model catalytic system that admits asymmetric solutions is presented. Bifurcation maps, showing the boundaries between characteristic solutions in the parameter plane, are drawn. Inhomogeneities are stable over a wide domain of parameters. Bifurcation diagrams of experimental space-averaged measurements in a distributed system are unlikely to reveal the true nature of the system.
