Abstract

A continuous process for the production of 1-2-3 superconductors by coprecipitation has been developed, based on a previous batch procedure. Inexpensive alkali reagents are used together with readily available equipment, and the process is easily scaled to higher production rates. Correct 1-2-3 stoichiometry is achieved with a low amount of alkali that is easily removed during calcination. The finished powder particles size is about one micrometer, and the final superconductor displays excellent properties.
