The word ‘ferrite’ is derived from the Latin word ‘ferrum’ which means iron. The first type of magnetic material known to human was lodestone which is made up of the ore magnetite (Fe2O3). Ferrite is a ceramic material which is made by mixing iron oxide with metallic elements which are electrically non-conducting or insulators.
