Overview

Woo Jin Hyun received his Ph.D. from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2013, after which he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Minnesota until 2017. Since 2018, he worked at Northwestern University as a postdoctoral fellow until joining the faculty of Materials Science and Engineering at Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) in 2022. He possesses extensive research backgrounds in ionogel electrolytes, solution-processable 2D materials, electrochemical energy storage, and printed electronics. His works have been introduced in prestigious journals in the fields of energy/electronic materials and nanoscience, including Advanced MaterialsAdvanced Energy MaterialsAdvanced Functional MaterialsAdvanced Electronics MaterialsACS Nano, and Applied Physics Letters.

At GTIIT, the central goal of his group is the development of advanced material systems and manufacturing strategies for electrochemical energy storage and electronics such as batteries, supercapacitors, and electrolyte-gated transistors. Currently, his group has three primary research thrusts: 1) developing ionogel electrolytes for high-performance electrochemical energy storage and electronics, 2) exploring solution-processable 2D materials for large-scale energy storage and electronic applications, and 3) designing printing processes for low-cost and high-throughput manufacturing of energy storage and electronics.
