Abstract

The random phase solitons (RPS) in nonlinear periodic lattices were discussed. For RPS to exist, their intensity profiles, coherence properties and power spectra must conform to the lattice periodicity. It was found that when the nonlinear response time is much longer than the characteristic time of random phase fluctuations, the solitons existed. In the context of nonlinear photonic lattices, the general phenomenon of such solitons was analyzed.
